Wipro Employee Embezzled $4 million | Wipro Fraud Outlook | Wipro Scam Details

A Wipro employee embezzled crores of rupees over the past three years, sending India’s third-largest software exporterscrambling to tighten internal controls in the finance division where the fraud took place.

The employee had been working with the company for the past three years in the ‘controllership’ division within the finance department. This cell is responsible for keeping the company’s financial books and also has powers to authorise payments whenever needed. The employee is believed to have embezzled about $4 million by stealing a password and transferring money from Wipro's account at a bank.

Suresh C Senapaty, Wipro’s CFO, confirmed the incident. “This has been a case of embezzlement, which we discovered in December, and it’s very unfortunate that this person succumbed to this,” Mr Senapaty said. “The company has carried out an investigation and is undertaking actions with respect to stricter adherence to processes.”

Wipro has since disbanded the controllership unit. The fraud is believed to have cost the company about $4 million. Wipro officials have succeeded in recovering about half the money, but will still face a loss of about $2 million.

Mr Senapaty said the incident did not involve more than one Wipro staffer. “Our investigations have revealed that only this employee was involved, and nobody else in the team had any clue,” Mr Senapaty said.

Apart from setting up an internal investigation team, Wipro has also taken help from external auditors and investigation experts who will vet its processes and certify the soundness of its controls. The company is already engaged with an external agency for conducting assessment of the existing audit and other processes in order to verify any potential loopholes.

SMS based Search in Bangalore-It made search Simple

A new SMS based location search service is available in Bangalore now. It's on 9008890088. This new service allows you to find services, directions to places of interest and also provides directions to people from point A to point B in Bangalore. The cool things about this services is that it is completely based out of the SMS network and so it works absolutely fine for people with or without Smart phones. Till date we have had location based search confined to only smart phones having mapping facility like GPS but this new service brings in a lot of hope to look out for in Bangalore. The 9008890088 SMS service is available free of charge - the only charge you will incur is the standard SMS rate for local messages as per your mobile plan. This service requires NO registration or NO subscription.I used this service over the weekend and was very much impressed with it - I found the service to be pretty reliable and also involves very little waiting time - maybe because very few people have started to use this service. But even on a weekend and the fast response it was really good. The reply back time varied for me from around 5 seconds to a max of about 1 minute but again it looks like the reply time varied due to the mobile operator’s message traffic congestion and also the availability of signals since I was constantly on the move. Here's how you can make use of this very simple and effective service. All you need to do is simply send SMS to 9008890088.Here's how you can use the service - simply SMS any of these messages below to 9008890088:
Example 1: FROM Silk Board TO Lalbagh Road
Example 2: Pizza NEAR Forum Mall
Example 3: HDFC ATM NEAR M G Road
You will get an instant reply SMS with the exact location and also you will get the shortest directions to reach the place from a prominent landmark. Another added benefit is that you also get to know the total distance in Kilometers and also an approximate Auto fare to the destination which really helps when you need to bargain for a fixed fee from places like MG Road or Forum.Hope you too find the service very useful - save it to your mobile now!! Never know when you need this service which is just an SMS away!!

Google Chrome -Beta Version for Download

A new version of Google Chrome is out - namely the 2.0.181.1 Beta. Chrome has been a browser that has a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. It has one box for everything: Type in the address bar and get suggestions for both search and web pages. Also it will give you thumbnails of your top sites; Access your favorite pages instantly with lightning speed from any new tab.

Though I personally see Chrome as a bare bones browser but it is quite good. Aside from being ugly, it does everything right. I also use FF3, IE8 and Opera 10. Although the other browsers have lots more bells and whistles they also have quirks. Chrome on the other hand has few if any bells and whistles, but is straight forward, faster and better at page rendering than either FF3 or Opera 10 and slightly better than IE8.

Go give it a try if you haven't yet done!!

Cell Phone RadiationLevels

CellPhone Radiation Levels
What it all means
According to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA), specific absorption rate, or SAR, is "a way of measuring the quantity of radio frequency (RF) energy that is absorbed by the body." For a phone to pass FCC certification, that phone's maximum SAR level must be less than 1.6 watts per kilogram. In Europe, the level is capped at 2W/kg while Canada allows a maximum of 1.6W/kg. The SAR level listed in our charts represents the highest SAR level with the phone next to the ear as tested by the FCC. Keep in mind that it is possible for the SAR level to vary between different transmission bands and that different testing bodies can obtain different results. Also, it's possible for results to vary between different editions of the same phone (such as a handset that's offered by multiple carriers).

It's important to note that in publishing this list are we in no way implying that cell phone use is or isn't harmful to your health. While research abounds and some tests have shown that cell phone radiofrequency (RF) could accelerate cancer in laboratory animals, the studies have not been replicated. Cell phones can affect internal pacemakers, but there is not conclusive or demonstrated evidence that they cause adverse health affects in humans. Conversely, there is not conclusive or demonstrated evidence that they don't cause adverse health affects in humans. So, in short, the jury is still out, research is ongoing, and we will continue to monitor its results.

RED Blood Cells Close View

Red Blood Cells
They look like little cinnamon candies here, but they're actually the most common type of blood cell in the human body - red blood cells (RBCs). These biconcave-shaped cells have the tall task of carrying oxygen to our entire body; in women there are about 4 to 5 million RBCs per micro liter (cubic millimeter) of blood and about 5 to 6 million in men. People who live at higher altitudes have even more RBCs because of the low oxygen levels in their environment.

Hyderabad Google Toll free Number

Google India has introduced phone based local search enabling users to dial a toll free number and get info about the local business – restaurants, movies etc.
The service is being tested in Hyderabad and users can call the toll-free number
1 800 41 99 99 99 to get details about the business and if needed, Google can forward the call to the business.
This is surely a good way to monetize via lead generation, but I believe Google is thinking beyond that.
In local search, data is a huge challenge – no single player has the correct data and given the fragmented market, offline way to collect data is just not scalable.JustDial (040-27777777-But its not atoll free number)leads here, but of course, they won’t share the data with any third party. So, the only way out for Google is to give away a toll-free number, get closer to users and start collecting the queries. For queries that throw results, Google will monetize via forwarding the call to the business.
In future, I won’t be surprised if Google starts driving traffic to their toll-free number via their local product.
The service is currently being tested in Hyderabad (which I think is more of a logistic choice, since Google already has a support center there), but once Google starts spreading to other cities, the startups in local search space will face the heart burn.

New Apple iPhone 3GS(Almost 15 Applications Went off in Nu one)

Chances are you've already heard about the iPhone 3G S and some of it's cool new features (and same goes for the iPhone OS 3.0 and it's cool new features). What you might not have thought about, however, are the apps which many developers have slaved over for weeks that were entirely rendered obsolete by the new features the iPhone will include. Read on for a list of 15 apps whose days are coming to an end.
1. Cycorder
Cycorder is a famous video recording application for jailbroken iPhones created by the developer of Cydia. The application records both video and audio, and focuses on real-time compression. However, the iPhone 3G S comes equipped with a video camera, so say goodbye to Cycorder.
2. iPhone Modem
This application, available to jailbroken iPhones via Cydia, allows you to tether your laptop to your iPhone in 10 seconds. In other words, you allow your computer to access the 3G network. Well, if you haven't heard, the iPhone OS 3.0 will allow internet tethering (once AT&T gets their act together).
3. iClipboard
iClipboard is a little app found in the iTunes app store that allows you to copy and paste text in a bit of an awkward way. This is not the only app that accomplishes this function. However, once the iPhone OS 3.0 comes out, none of these apps will ever be downloaded again.
4. Clippy
Clippy is an app for jailbroken iPhones that gives you copy/paste functionality in a nice, orderly fashion (unlike the app above). Again, this app will no longer be needed.
5. Say Who
Say Who is a voice dialer application for the iPhone available in the app store. You can voice dial contacts, spell out the digits for a phone number, look up a contact's information, launch SMS, and so on. The new iPhone will not only have voice dialing, but it will allow you to vocally control many of device's functions. Tough luck for the developers.
6. AdelaVoice Voice Dialer
There's nothing to say about this application that differs from "Say Who", but it should be mentioned due it's immense success in the app store. A success that has been entirely thwarted by the voice control feature announcement at today's WWDC.
7. GadgetTrak
GadgetTrak is a clever little application that uses an icon that looks almost identical to the Safari icon. When the icon is pressed, it instantly sends out the device's location to your predefined email address. With the new "Find My Phone" feature available to Mobile Me users, all security applications like this are no longer needed. But if you don't have Mobile Me, go here to learn how to build a theft-proof iPhone.
8. Quickgold
Quickgold is a launcher that allows you to find what you need, whether it's a contact or a bookmark, without thumbing through a string of icons or screens. It's available through Cydia for jailbroken iPhones. The entirely new program "Spotlight", which will appear on all iPhones once the OS 3.0 update is installed, allows users to do a "combined search". Spotlight lets you search through contacts, apps, iPod, emails, and everything from the same screen. Quickgold...it was good while it lasted.
9. MotionX GPS
MotionX GPS is a full-fledged navigation application for the iPhone. It offers turn by turn, compass, and lots of other nifty little things. While the application may still be useful to some, the concept behind it is certainly rendered obsolete by the iPhone's upcoming turn-by-turn GPS capabilities and magnetometer based compass. If you haven't heard, TomTom is releasing a navigation app for the iPhone.
10. Camera Zoom
This app does exactly what the title promises. It allows you to zoom the camera in and out. The iPhone 3G S will not only have a 3 MP camera and a video camera, but it'll have the ability to auto-zoom and auto-focus.
11. Night Camera
Night Camera is a photography application that enhances the iPhone camera's ability to take sharp photos at night time (or in low light conditions). The application will no longer be needed because the iPhone 3G S's camera is equipped to handle night time photos.
12. iTalk
This application, with nearly 17,000 App Store reviews, is an incredibly functional voice recorder (and it's made by Griffin Technology). Apple, however, decided to include it's own native voice recorder in the iPhone OS 3.0:
13. Send Contact (Business Cards)
This application (and many others like it in the App Store) allows users to send a contact's information easily to someone's email. The iPhone OS 3.0, however, will allow users to share contact information by both email and text message, so this app will be completely useles
14. Big Keyboard Email
This application (and all the one's who are identical to it) simply allow you to send email in landscape mode so the clumsy typers of the world can make less spelling errors. Well, luckily, you won't be needing this app anymore, since the iPhone OS 3.0 will allow you to type emails in landscape mode.
15. Swirly MMS

Swirly MMS brings MMS messaging to jailbroken iPhones (and it's sure not perfect). But now that Apple has announced that full MMS functionality will be part of the iPhone OS 3.0, they days of Swirly MMS.
In conclusion, while these apps were good work arounds for a while, the time has come that there is no longer anything to work around. The iPhone OS 3.0 and the iPhone 3G S will bring much of the missing functionality of the iPhone to the table, making it sit even more proudly on its throne in the cellular world. And hey, who knows what else we'll realize Apple failed to include in the device?
